Web 3.0 and Popular Digital Coins You Need to Know
Technology is constantly developing, and new technologies are popping up all the time, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, the Metaverse and NFTs. Web 3.0 is another technology we can look forward to in the future that’s set to change our lives. Let’s learn more about what this could mean for our online future.

From Web 1.0 to Web 3.0
Web 1.0 was the first version of the internet which was founded and developed between 1990-2000. Web 1.0 offered one-way communication, which meant users could search for and read information, but couldn’t interact with others.
Around the year 2000, Web 2.0 was introduced, which enabled two-way communication. Users could interact with each other and give feedback, plus website owners could update information in real time.
Social media and search engines such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google and Yahoo! were born, which enabled people from around the world to interact and discover information.
Web 2.0 has developed rapidly, and many have concerns over data privacy, making them keen to move towards Web 3.0.
What Is Web 3.0?
Tim Berners-Lee invented the website and developed the idea of the internet revolution, Web 3.0, which will allow users to use the internet freely without the need for an intermediary, so the internet will become decentralised. Users will be able to adjust and edit information, which reduces the bottom-up design we have today, and creates a transparent system.
Web 3.0 will embrace technology such as artificial intelligence, automated reasoning, and cognitive architecture. Blockchain will also play its part in the development of Web 3.0.
Web 3.0 and Crypto
Blockchain offers safe and reliable transactions without the need for an intermediary. Web 3.0 will use crypto to strengthen data privacy systems and data leak protection.
Web 3.0 Coins List
- Helium (HNT): a cryptocurrency earned when the user provides a hotspot within the group.
- Chainlink: Blockchain sends the data usage through an online system in a smart contract to settle the service fee in the network.
- Filecoin (FIL): This blockchain provides data storage online, and free space is returned in FIL coins.
- Audius: The online music streaming platform operates under a blockchain and connects with the artist directly without the involvement of a record label. This helps bring artists and their fans closer together whilst allowing the artist to increase their income and create work independently.
- Flux (FLUX): Flux is a cloud-based decentralised network that develops a proof-of-work that wastes energy to be proof-of-useful-work (PoUW) by an algorithm.
- Theta (THETA): The platform is similar to Audius but it offers video streaming. Currently, many corporations such as Sony, Google, and Samsung invest and create their work using this coin.
Even though Web 3.0 is still being developed, we believe that it will become a part of our lives, just as Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 have. Watch this space!
